What a sweetie Cooper is! He’s a 3-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog/Australian Shepherd mix with an emphasis on the Mountain Dog, from the looks of him. He’s got a beautiful black coat and the distinctive brown markings on his face, which always boasts a smile. He’s more the size of the shepherd medium but he’s definitely…ummm… chunkier, to put it politely. To put it bluntly, Cooper is a big boy, way bigger than he should be, but the good news is that he would be happy to put in the time and effort, as long as it means spending time with a forever friend or family. Heavy though he is, Cooper loves to chase balls, jump up for toys and trot along on a walk. Most importantly, though, Cooper is smart, gentle and sweet. He’ll sit on command, respond joyously to his name and gaze at you lovingly when you give him a back scratch or an ear rub. Cooper is a wonderful family man who needs to find his forever home, so pay a visit to the Conway shelter and meet this charming fellow; maybe you will be the one to become his much-loved personal trainer!

April and Kay

April and Kay have never had anyone to love or love them. They were born outside and their first couple of months were not the most pleasant. They don’t even know what its like to be touched. They will look at you with pleading eyes and say what are you doing? We’re scared! Thanks to “Operation Shy Guys” these cats are learning to build trust and build social skills. Some wonderful volunteers have been using a slow and gentle approach and lure them with spoonfuls of baby food. They do enjoy toys, and while they will consent to being petted and will even purr, they are still cautious and not yet ready for cuddling. It will take a bit of time for them to learn to enjoy people and see that life can be fun. These sweet souls really hope you’ll take them home and teach them with kindness and patience what it means to be loved. They would be happy to go to a home together but can also be adopted separately. We need more volunteers to help socialize cats like April and Kay and help them become more adoptable. Meet Damien

Damien is a friendly, mellow guy who likes attention but isn’t bossy about getting it. He will entice you with purrs and soft kneading and also welcomes ear rubs and chin scratches. He would be just fine with other cats, kids and dogs. He is also fond of pet birds and will even let them sit on his back. Obviously, he is a very easy going boy who would just love to melt right into your heart and home!

Karlos

Karlos is an easy-going kind of guy. He’s a medium-sized, one-year-old Akita mix with a curly tail and he sports a brown and white tuxedo look for his coloring, a very handsome dog indeed. Karlos is a friend to both people and dogs, he’s playful as can be when thrown a ball to chase, and he’s a gentle, affectionate companion when the day is done. He’s not too big or too small, not too hyper or too lazy, not too enthusiastic or too timid. Karlos is, in short, just right. There is nothing not to like about this guy! Tom has star quality! You can just imagine him as a lead in one of those cat food commercials. He’s also real sweetheart and will nestle his head under your chin and doesn’t mind being held; he’d love to curl up in your lap and would enjoy being in the midst of whatever you were doing. Tom has an endearing quality about him, and while very friendly he’s also quite a mellow fellow. What more could you ask for in a cat? He’s just terrific!

Ginger

Sugar and spice and everything nice thats Ginger! This puppyish little girl is a shepherd/terrier mix with a sleek coat of short, ginger-colored fur, long legs, soulful dark eyes, and somewhat large, floppy ears. She has plenty of energy, but she seldom barks and she’s extremely affectionate, choosing to communicate with kisses rather than silly antics. Ginger is great on a leash, she’s housebroken and she loves those squeaky toys! Because she’s still got a lot of puppy in her (she’s about 1 year old), she’d probably do well in a family with older kids rather than toddlers who could get in her way at times. But regardless, Ginger has never met a soul she didn’t like. She’s ready to find her forever friend or family, so remember, she’s sugar and spice and everything nice!

Luna

Introducing the lovely Miss Luna! This sleek 1-year-old is a doberman mix, though she’s the color of milk chocolate and a touch of caramel. This gorgeous girl is a bundle of energy and she’d love to become a member of an active family which would keep her busy and moving, and because she’s so playful, Luna would happily make a great buddy for other dogs. She’s got a big grin and a hint of a gleam in her eye, but Luna is as sweet a pup as can be. She would be a great companion for the hiker or jogger in the family and she’d love to frolic in the backyard with the kids, too. And did we mention that she’s a strikingly beautiful pup? Come to the Conway Animal Shelter if you or your family is looking for a friend to come out and play and ask to see lovely Luna! She’s waiting here for you!

Everyone knows the moment when they see a little kid playing in a sandbox and they have to exclaim, “What a cute little peanut!” Well, this little 7-month-old, caramel-colored puppy will bring out the same reaction when you meet her. Peanut is a friendly and adorable pit bull mix who IS a bit of a peanut in terms of her size, but that’s the only small thing about her. She has a HUGE love of both dogs and kids and she’d quickly become a beloved member of her new family. Peanut may appear a bit timid on first meeting, but she relaxes very quickly and will soon be running, playing and bouncing with the rest of the group. Happy and friendly as she is, she’s not a noisy girl (she rarely barks) and she’s not a troublemaker in any way. She needs some practice when it comes to walking on a leash, but she’s a smart puppy and will quickly learn that trick. Peanut aims to please and she’s itching to meet her new forever family, so come down to the Conway Shelter and spend some time with this little cutie she’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your face!

Meet Yoda!

If you were to ask Yoda what he’d like to do today, his answer would no doubt be PLAY! Yoda is a bouncing 1-year-old Staffordshire terrier/ sharpei mix with big friendly eyes and a sturdy little body (40 pounds, more or less) who is ready to take on any challenge as long as it means PLAY. He loves his chewy toys and he’ll always be happy to join you on a walk or a hike, but he’s also a big fan of rides in the car (he no doubt wonders what kind of play will await him at the end of the ride). Yoda plays very well with other dogs, and kids, too. He’s a family man and he would bond well with anyone who invites him into their home. You must come meet Yoda if you’re looking for a friendly, four-footed friend to play around with or to become your devoted buddy; he’s all of these rolled up into a cute little bundle of…well, joy!

Meet Roxy

Do you love Maine Coon cats? If so, you will love Roxy! She has a beautiful long and fluffy brown and white tabby coat with white stockings. She is a calm and very friendly cat who came to the Conway shelter as a stray. She loves to be held and could make a wonderful lap cat, and she has the cutest little face! Roxy likes other cats and enjoys attention. Please come to the Animal Rescue League North to meet this little love bug!
